Say goodbye to the days of taking patient bite impressions with bad-tasting, gooey, and messy impression material in your mouth. Welcome to experiencing cutting-edge digital technology in dentistry. Our office uses state-of-the-art iTero 3D intraoral scanners. These scanners produce a photorealistic 3D digital impression of your teeth in just minutes in real-time, increasing accuracy while offering a more comfortable experience for adults, teens, and especially younger children.
The iTero 3D scanner creates digital impressions of a patient's mouth using a hand-held wand that uses optical technology to capture highly detailed digital images of the inside of a patient's mouth. The images are captured in real-time and display a detailed 3D digital model of your teeth and gums. It makes appointments faster and reduces the number of errors encountered when creating appliances that fit in a patient's mouth.
Also, iTero is derived from the Latin word itero, meaning “to repeat.” The name reflects the ability of the iTero system to exactly replicate the oral anatomy for superior results, time and time again.
The iTero scanner does NOT expose our patients to any radiation and is completely safe. The best part is that it is fast and accurate. Especially with Invisalign treatment or retainers, this process expedites the process, and the fit of your aligner or retainer is far superior to what was made with traditional impressions.
For most patients, it will take 10-15 minutes to perform the iTero 3D scanning process. Once done, the patients, assistant, and orthodontist can spend the time needed reviewing the final 3D scan and visualizing both projected progress and the final expected end result.
Once patients are complete with treatment, they receive retainers to wear to prevent teeth movement. Since we maintain your 3D scans on file and can 3D print your bite molds, if you find yourself needing to replace your retainer, after a simple phone call to our office, we can quickly remake a new set of retainers. This saves you not only time (usually it just takes a day or two) but money as well from not needing multiple office visits.
