Ann Arbor Orthodontics: Our Ann Arbor Office

1

Ann Arbor families don't have to go far for orthodontic care. Our office is on South Main Street, a short drive from downtown, and this page covers where to find us, when we're open, and how orthodontic timing fits the school years in Ann Arbor.

Dr. Mary Beth Moenssen and Dr. Brandon Shoukri see Ann Arbor patients at 2084 South Main Street, about 5 minutes from downtown.

Finding Our Ann Arbor Office

Our office is at 2084 South Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, and our phone number is (734) 975-8730. From the center of downtown it's about 2 miles, roughly a 5-minute drive without traffic, and the whole trip is on South Main Street.

Our office hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Mondays we're here from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for administrative needs only, and the office is closed on Fridays.

We also welcome families from nearby communities, including Saline, Milan, and Ypsilanti.

Ann Arbor Schools, Grade by Grade

Ann Arbor Public Schools is a large district with elementary, K-8, middle, and high schools, so the easiest way to follow the orthodontic timeline is by stage. The American Association of Orthodontists suggests a first orthodontic check-up by age 7. Here is how each stage lines up:

Private School and Homeschool Families in Ann Arbor

Many of our patients attend private schools in and around Ann Arbor, and the same timeline applies to them. Here are some of the schools our families come from:

  • Greenhills School (pre-K to 12th grade): An independent college-prep school serving every stage on this page.
  • Emerson School (Young 5s to 8th grade): An independent school on Scio Church Road that covers the years from a first check-up to the start of braces or Invisalign.
  • Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor (kindergarten to 3rd grade): A Montessori-based Christian school on Jackson Road whose students are right around the age for a first check-up.
  • St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School (preschool to 8th grade): A Catholic school on East Stadium Boulevard, from the first check-up through middle school.
  • St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School (preschool through high school): A Catholic school on Elizabeth Street, from early check-ups through retainers.
  • Spiritus Sanctus Academy (preschool to 8th grade): A Catholic academy on East Joy Road serving the years when baby teeth give way to permanent ones.
  • Washtenaw Christian Academy (preschool to 12th grade): A Christian school in nearby Saline that also draws families from the Ann Arbor area.

Homeschool families are part of our practice too. Orthodontic timing follows a child's age and growth rather than a grade, so the age-7 check-up applies however your child learns, and Washtenaw Christian Academy lists a homeschool partnership on its own site. Whatever your child's school setting, we'll go over the likely visit schedule at your consultation, so your family can plan appointments around learning and activities.

Treatment Options for Ann Arbor Families

Where a child fits depends on age and growth, not just grade. Some benefit from Phase 1 Treatment early, some are watched until their permanent teeth arrive, and teens and adults can compare Braces and Invisalign. We'll explain our reasoning.

Part of the Ann Arbor Community

Downtown Ann Arbor's Michigan Theater, at 603 E. Liberty Street, has been entertaining Michiganders since 1928, according to its own site. University of Michigan Health's 24 Hours in Ann Arbor guide adds the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, with more than 100 local producers, the Ann Arbor Art Fair every July, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival each March at the Michigan Theater.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit is a complimentary consultation right here on South Main Street, with no obligation to begin treatment. We'll look at your child's teeth and bite, explain whether treatment is recommended, and give you a cost estimate if it is. The American Association of Orthodontists describes the usual appointment in its first appointment guide: the exam, a treatment plan, and a conversation about cost.

We often use 3D Scanning in place of impression trays, and Finance & Insurance is simple to review before you decide. Ready to start? Schedule a Consultation.
